2000 - Actuality (XXI's Century)
Historical Events
Marking the beginning of the 21st century was the rise of a global economy and Third World consumerism. The NATO interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq of the early 2000s and overthrowing several regimes during the Arab Spring of the early 2010s led to mixed outcomes in the Arab world, resulting in several civil wars and political instability. The United States has remained the global superpower, while China is now considered an emerging global superpower. The European Union was greatly expanded in the 21st century, adding 13 member states, but the United Kingdom withdrew. Most European Union member states introduced a common currency, the Euro. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was also greatly expanded in the 21st century, adding 11 member states. |
The September 11 atacks
Commonly known as 9/11 or 11S, were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks carried out by the militant Islamic extremist network against the United States on Tuesday September 11, 2001. This day, 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners mid-flight while traveling from the northeastern U.S. to California. The attackers were organized into three groups of five members and one group of four. The hijackers successfully crashed the first two planes into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. The third plane into the west side of the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The fourth plane was intended to hit a federal government building in Washington, D.C., but instead crashed down in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. |
Music at the XXI's Century
BEST SONG AT THE C. XXI.
For us, the best song is UMBRELLA. "Umbrella" is a song by Barbadian singer Rihanna from her third studio album Good Girl Gone Bad (2007). It features American rapper Jay-Z, who co-wrote the song with its producers Tricky Stewart and Kuk Harrell, with additional writing from The-Dream. The song was originally written with Britney Spears in mind, but her label rejected it. "Umbrella" is a pop, hip hop and R&B song with rock elements, referring to a romantic and platonic relationship and the strength of that relationship. |

BEST ARTIST AT THE C. XXI
We think that the best artist at this decade is TAYLOR SWIFT. Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter. Her discography spans multiple genres, and her narrative songwriting, which is often inspired by her personal life, has received widespread media coverage and critical praise. Born in West Reading, Pennsylvania, Swift relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 14 to pursue a career in country music. She signed a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2004 and a recording deal with Big Machine Records in 2005, before releasing her eponymous debut studio album in 2006.
